Online identity theft / fraud due to database breaches, phishing or malware is a global issue with huge costs. In the first half of 2017, 1.9 billion records were stolen worldwide – up 164% compared to the last six months of 2016 – costing on average €3.1 million per breach. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €1.2M toward a total project budget of €1.8M — a funding rate of 70%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 1.9 years from 2019-02-01 to 2020-12-31.
