With the evolving threat of climate change and the consequences of industrial accidents to becoming more severe, there is an increasing need for First Responders to access reliable and agile information management systems that offer as higher Situational Awareness and better Common Operational Picture. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
