Large-scale energy renovations of school buildings have a high perceived investment risk, while the many actors involved deem the endeavour an even more complex procedure. The importance of energy renovation of buildings has been addressed by National (NEEAP, NECP) and EU (EPBD, Green Deal) policies. PEDIA was conceived for removing legal, administrative, technical, and market barriers, eliminating the existing fragmentation through the achievement of the following objectives: 1.Upgrade of 25 schools to the Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) level and improvement of the thermal comfort levels…
About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
EU contribution: €500k awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 6.2 years from 2020-09-01 to 2026-10-31.
