ISTOS CENTER OF INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR BUILDING SAFETY – ISTOS Center of Excellence

Coordinator: FREDERICK RESEARCH CENTER (CY)

Europe is experiencing an increasing number of disasters due to natural hazards. The potential for a hazard to cause a disaster mainly depends on the vulnerability of the exposed community to a particular hazard. According to EM-DAT, for the period 1998–2009, earthquakes in Europe rank second in terms of fatalities and third in terms of overall losses. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €900k toward a total project budget of €902k — a funding rate of 100%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 3.5 years from 2020-11-01 to 2024-04-30.
