The construction of a regional waste management centre (hereinafter: The RCGO) with related transshipment stations (Varaždin and Zabok) and with the necessary equipment, implementing the other activities, plans to improve the sustainable waste management system in the north-western Croatia area, in the area of Koprivnica-Križevci, Krapina-Zagorje, Međimurje and Varaždin County, covering approximately 518.000 inhabitants (2018). About the Environment and resource efficiency objective
Thematic Objective 6 finances environment and resource efficiency — water and waste management, biodiversity protection, contaminated-site remediation, air quality, and the circular economy.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €41.6M toward a total project cost of €59.5M — a co-funding rate of 70%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
