The project was initiated in order to address the conservation and management issues of bisons living in an unsuitable area (Kėdainiai, Panevėžys district municipality)._x000D_In recent years the number of bisons has increased rapidly. However, the area where a large part of the population of the free-living bison population is now concentrated is not appropriate because the bisons live in intensive farming areas and are dependent on crops.
