The main problem is that the pollution loads (according to BDS7, SM, total nitrogen, general phosphorus) in the waste water treatment plant in the city of Vilnius exceed the average annual nitrogen concentration in the existing design, treatment and discharge of waste water, and the infrastructure of the waste water treatment plant built several decades ago is wearing, therefore, adequate waste water treatment is not ensured in Vilnius city and part of Vilnius district. Thematic Objective 6 finances environment and resource efficiency — water and waste management, biodiversity protection, contaminated-site remediation, air quality, and the circular economy.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €26.5M toward a total project cost of €33.2M — a co-funding rate of 80%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
