Smart Sustainable Public Spaces across the NWE region

NEW faces a great challenge to shift towards a low carbon economy by 2050. Municipalities play a pivotal role, as they account for 70% of the NWE energy consumption and CO2 emission. Especially, standard public street lighting accounts for ~30% of municipalities‘ total electricity consumption. Advances in intelligent lighting systems offers the opportunity to significantly increase energy efficiency, thereby reducing the carbon footprint. About the Low-carbon economy objective

Thematic Objective 4 funds the low-carbon economy — renewable-energy capacity, energy efficiency in public buildings and housing, low-carbon urban mobility, smart grids and combined heat and power. It is the single largest climate strand of 2014–2020 Cohesion.

Co-funding: the EU contributes €3.4M toward a total project cost of €5.7M — a co-funding rate of 60%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.

Kohesio is the European Commission's open-data platform for projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund and the Just Transition Fund. It draws on lists of beneficiaries published by national managing authorities and harmonises them into a single EU-wide view.
