Electrification of the railway on the Tallinn-Tartu and Tapa-Narva lines (phase 1)

With the implementation of the electrification project, the electrified railway will be multiplied compared to today. In Phase 1 of the project, it is planned to build a total of approximately 500 km of new contact network (including 121 km of upgrading of the existing contact network) and six new transport substations by 2027. The electrification of railways will help reduce the climate impact of the railway sector and the Estonian transport sector as a whole. The extension of the electric railway has a positive impact on the timetable and reduces travel time for the rail passenger.
