Integrating the ecosystem approach and applying nature-based solutions into the protection of Natura 2000 sites

The main goal of the project is to ensure high-quality and modern management of biodiversity and Natura 2000 in Bulgaria. To integrate the ecosystem approach and implement nature-based solutions into the protection of Natura 2000 sites, the following main activities are planned in the project: - Defining site-specific conservation objectives (SSCOs) and measures for the Natura 2000 sites, including the development of SSCOs and measures for 250 sites and measures for 90 sites, as well as a catalogue of nature-based solutions; - Completing the process of mapping and assessment of ecosystems and…

Co-funding: the EU contributes €15.3M toward a total project cost of €18.7M — a co-funding rate of 82%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.

Kohesio is the European Commission's open-data platform for projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund and the Just Transition Fund. It draws on lists of beneficiaries published by national managing authorities and harmonises them into a single EU-wide view.
