EMERGE Emerging Printed Electronics Research Infrastructure (EMERGE)

Coordinator: UNINOVA-INSTITUTO DE DESENVOLVIMENTO DE NOVAS TECNOLOGIAS-ASSOCIACAO (PT)

The aim of EMERGE is to establish the first integrated, distributed research infrastructure supporting comprehensive user projects for multi-and-trans-disciplinary research on sustainable flexible large-area printed electronics and photonics (FLAPEP) value chain, going from materials formulation to design and architecture ofprocesses, devices and systems, backup by characterization, test modelling and simulation tools, through a coordinated open-access for RTOs, industry and SMEs to complementary facilities. This is a route for creating added value and road mapping the introduction of new, re…

About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

EU contribution: €6.2M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4.5 years from 2021-07-01 to 2025-12-31.
