CPW ELUCIDATION OF CRYSTALLISATION PROCESS USING FFF 3D PRINTER ASSISTED IR THERMAL IMAGING TECHNIQUE ON PLASTIC WASTE

Coordinator: UNIVERSITA TA MALTA (MT)

Nowadays, the issue of plastic recycling has become one of the major issues of environmental protection and waste management. Since 1950, humans have produced more than 8 billion tons of plastic, of which more than half was discarded into landfills and only 9% was recycled. The majority of plastic waste stemmed from semi-crystalline polymers such PE, PP and PET. When recycled, the properties of these polymers deteriorated due to shrinkage and warpage issues related to the crystallisation process that occurred during the cooling process. The temperature gradient during cooling is able to contr…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

The project runs over approximately 2 years from 2024-05-01 to 2026-04-30.
