HyPowerGT DEMONSTRATING A HYDROGEN-POWERED GAS-TURBINE ENGINE FUELLED WITH UP TO 100% H2 – (HYPOWERGT)

Coordinator: SINTEF ENERGI AS (NO)

The HyPowerGT project aims at moving technological frontiers to enable gas turbines to operate on hydrogen without dilution. The core technology is a novel dry-low emission combustion technology (DLE H2) capable of handling mixtures of natural gas and hydrogen with concentrations up to 100% H2. The combustion technology has been successfully validated at TRL5 (early 2021) retrofitted on the combustion system of a 13 MWe industrial gas turbine (NovaLT12). Besides ensuring low emissions and high efficiency, the DLE H2 combustion technology offers fuel flexibility and response capability on a pa…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €6.0M toward a total project budget of €12.3M — a funding rate of 49%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2024-01-01 to 2027-12-31.
