FATRESCON Concrete matrices for high-cycle-fatigue resistant, eco-efficient infrastructure

Coordinator: VYSOKE UCENI TECHNICKE V BRNE (CZ)

The necessity to meet the rising global demand for mobility and energy supply and, at the same time, the urgency to minimize the carbon footprint, leads to the challenging scientific question of the fatigue resistance of emerging eco-efficient concretes. Since existing knowledge of the traditional Portland-clinker-based binders is largely empirical, it cannot be directly transferred to new binder systems, exhibiting complex chemical and mechanical interactions within the heterogeneous material structure. In contrast to the well-established insight into the high-cycle fatigue of metals, a comp…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

EU contribution: €10.0M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 6 years from 2025-06-01 to 2031-05-31.
