PHOQUS Photon-based scalable quantum information science

A grand challenge of our age is to develop platforms for quantum information processing. The optical photon plays a key role: it allows quantum information to be transmitted over long distances and the encoded quantum information is robust, making photons attractive qubits for quantum computing. Resource states consisting of a small number of entangled photons constitute the fundamental building block that subsequently can be fused into larger entangled states by interference – a simple operation in photonics. About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)
Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT).
