ReSiSTant Large Riblet Surface with Super Hardnesss, Mechanical and Temperature Resistance by Nano Functionalization

Coordinator: BIONIC SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES GMBH (AT)

“ReSiSTant” targets the optimization of two industrial pilot lines by using micro- and nanostructured surfaces for drag reduction. The objectives are to implement new developed surfaces into 1) Aircraft Turbofan Engines and 2) Industrial Compressors. Positive effects by usage of such surface could give benefits in terms of efficiency, CO2 reduction and noise emission and further on a positive economical and ecological impact. To enable the usage of such micro- and nanostructures, special development on the surface material for better durability in rough conditions has do be done. It is planne…

About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

EU contribution: €5.5M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 5 years from 2018-01-01 to 2022-12-31.
