The Science in the City Consortium of Malta intends to engage the public within a framework of the Arts and Science, in 2018 and 2019, as successfully conducted since 2012. In 2018, the theme of the Festival will be Science is Culture, to show the public just how much science affects the way we live our lives and how we, in turn, affect the direction of research. The festival will be held in Valletta, European Capital of Culture 2018 and UNESCO world heritage site. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €174k toward a total project budget of €261k — a funding rate of 67%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 1.6 years from 2018-06-01 to 2019-12-31.
