GreenArc500 The first effective oil and water pre-separator, enabling clean water release and fuel efficiency onboard ships

Oily water, generated by ships during operation, is accumulated in bilge wells. As this water is highly polluted, it must be purified using oily water separator (OWS) filtration systems prior to discharge overboard. The MARPOL 73/78 convention demands that no more than 15 ppm of oil particulates in water can be present upon discharge. Non-compliance is heavily fined, yet common, due to the inefficiencies and high costs of current OWS methods. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
