According to the data of the Institute of Hygiene, the incidence of oncological diseases in our society is constantly increasing. Despite depopulation in the last 20 years, the incidence of oncological diseases in Lithuania has almost doubled in absolute terms (from 12849 inhabitants in 1997 to 24265 in 2016), while the standardised indicator is the incidence of malignancy per 100 000 inhabitants more than twice (from 359.4 per 100 000 inhabitants in 1997 to 846 per 100 000 inhabitants in 2016).
