The project is based on the principles and needs defined in the “Strategy for the Development and Management of Water Supply and Sanitation in the Republic of Bulgaria in the period 2014-2023” and its Action Plan, the priorities for implementing investments in the water sector of the European Commission, as well as in the context of the ongoing reform in the water sector. About the Environment and resource efficiency objective
Thematic Objective 6 finances environment and resource efficiency — water and waste management, biodiversity protection, contaminated-site remediation, air quality, and the circular economy.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €18.7M toward a total project cost of €22.2M — a co-funding rate of 84%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
