Market driven authentic Non-Timber Forest Products from the Baltic region - focus on wild and semi cultivated species with business potential
The maple syrup industry has brought jobs and income to many rural areas in Canada. Mushrooms, berries, tree oils and other biological products from the Baltic Sea region forests could have the very same effect. NovelBaltic wants to increase the competitiveness of such non-timber forest products from the Baltic Sea region. Academia and business cooperate to provide small and medium sized enterprises with new methods that certify the geographical origin of their products faster and cheaper and to evaluate business opportunities in Asian markets.
About the Research, technological development and innovation objective
Thematic Objective 1 of the 2014–2020 Cohesion period funds research, technological development and innovation. It supports R&D infrastructure, technology transfer, business-academia partnerships and pilot lines that close the gap between scientific discovery and market application across EU regions.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €1.4M toward a total project cost of €1.9M — a co-funding rate of 74%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
Kohesio is the European Commission's open-data platform for projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund and the Just Transition Fund.
