Blue2Green Medical Waste Recycling
Blue2Green recycling provides safe and sustainable treatment of infectious medical waste as an alternative to incineration. Raw materials are recovered from the waste and used in the circular economy. Achieved environmental gains are made transparent for healthcare institutions and hospitals. Medical waste is currently incinerated in its entirety at the Hospital Waste Incineration Plant (ZAVIN) in Dordrecht. Co-funding: the EU contributes €2.3M toward a total project cost of €4.6M — a co-funding rate of 50%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
