The metal industry in Västerbotten consists mainly of mines and smelters. The dominant player is Boliden AB, which operates the mines and the Rönnskär smelter. The target group for the project is Boliden Rönnskär, which is the largest emission point in the Västerbotten metal industry and is in tenth place on the EU/ETS list for Sweden.
