Resilience for EU Bathing Waters and Coastal Communities
The Acclimatize operation will close the knowledge gap in relation to the faecal pollution of 'at-risk' urban and rural bathing waters in Ireland and Wales by identifying and quantifying pollution streams and determining their impact on these waters through a dynamic period of climate change. The project will develop a range of practical management methods, including smart real‐time predictive tools, to improve the quality of such coastal waters to ensure compliance with regulations to protect human health and the marine environment. About the Climate change adaptation, risk prevention objective
Thematic Objective 5 supports climate-change adaptation and risk prevention: flood defences, wildfire prevention, drought-management infrastructure, civil-protection systems, and ecosystem-based adaptation.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €5.4M toward a total project cost of €6.7M — a co-funding rate of 80%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
