Flood control in the LYS cross-border basin
The cross-border territory is particularly prone to flooding due to its geological characteristics, aggravated by other stakeholders such as global warming, changes in agricultural practices or the development of urban areas. The territories are joining forces to manage this increasingly recurrent problem and thus protect the exposed populations and properties in the area of the cross-border Lys basin. About the Climate change adaptation, risk prevention objective
Thematic Objective 5 supports climate-change adaptation and risk prevention: flood defences, wildfire prevention, drought-management infrastructure, civil-protection systems, and ecosystem-based adaptation.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €1.6M toward a total project cost of €3.2M — a co-funding rate of 50%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
