Climate change, changes in land use and urbanisation in the Lys and Yser cross-border areas have made municipalities increasingly vulnerable to the risk of floods. The LYSE project proposes integrated flood risk management through the implementation of cross-border actions such as the improvement of flood risk awareness, the installation of retention basins or the creation of soft hydraulic installations. About the Climate change adaptation, risk prevention objective

Thematic Objective 5 supports climate-change adaptation and risk prevention: flood defences, wildfire prevention, drought-management infrastructure, civil-protection systems, and ecosystem-based adaptation.

Co-funding: the EU contributes €2.4M toward a total project cost of €4.8M — a co-funding rate of 50%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
